On October, 31st 2019 Bud Spencer alias Carlo Pedersoli, as his civil name was, would have turned 90. There can hardly be a better occasion than this to bring the loving film portrait "They called him Spencer" back to the cinemas. And in a new version, too.

The Cinestar will present a "comedy version" of the documentary on 31 October 2019 at 8 pm at selected locations in Germany. It will feature many German speakers who also dubbed the original films by Bud Spencer and Terrence Hill. Of course, the main voice of Terence Hill, Thomas Danneberg, who also acts as narrator of the film, should not be missing. Rainer Brandt, without whom the German versions of the film classics with Bud Spencer and Terence Hill would not have been as funny and probably not as successful, contributes a few texts and answers questions in the interviews.

Bud Spencer zurück im Kino mit Sie nannten ihn Spencer

The interviews with actors and companions of Bud were dubbed by the speakers, so every fan recognizes everything and ends up in a kind of nostalgia. As a highlight, interview partners not only get any voices acting as speakers. There is the German dubbing voice of Bruce Willis, Manfred Lehmann or Engelbert von Nordhausen, who also speaks Samuel L. Jackson, and Ernst Meincke (Patrick Stewart).

Even for fans who have already seen this documentary, it will be worth it again. "They called him Spencer" was reworked and got some new material, among others a previously unreleased interview with Carlo Pedersoli, which was probably the last moving image interview with the legend. For those of you who haven't seen this documentary, "They called him Spencer" is a mixture of road movie, buddy comedy with tragic undertones and documentary, in which several of Bud Spencer's companions have their say. It draws a vivid picture of the person who was a larger-than-life human being on and off the screen. A world-famous actor, creative inventor, sensational swimmer, language genius, composer, writer and much more.

It's worth taking a look. From the price of 12,- EUR for the movie, 90 cents will go to the aid organisation BILD hilft e.V. "Ein Herz für Kinder" (A heart for children).
