Oliver Onions are the brothers Guido and Maurizio De Angelis, who wrote the film music for over 200 film and TV productions in the 70s and 80s and who, as Oliver Onions, also sang many of their title songs themselves. During this time, they were also the house and court composers for the films of Bud Spencer and Terence Hill, creating countless unforgettable hits for these films, such as ‘Flying through the Air’, ‘Dune Buggy’, ‘Bulldozer’, ‘Sheriff’, ‘Fantasy’ or ‘Banana Joe’. But they also made a name for themselves outside the Spencer/Hill universe with great songs like ‘Sandokan’, ‘Orzowei’ and ‘Santa Maria’, the song that really launched Roland Kaiser's career.
Since 2016, Oliver Onions have also been playing their hits at big concerts. The concert in honour of Bud Spencer in Budapest in 2016 and their concerts in Berlin's Columbiahalle in 2018 and on the banks of the Elbe in Dresden in 2020 will remain unforgettable. But they have also performed on stage in their home country time and again in recent years, giving celebrated concerts in Rome, Verona, Milan, Lucca and Bologna, among other places.
Now they are coming to us in Ilmenau and bringing the vocal ensemble Animeniacs Corp with them for this concert. The Animeniacs vocal group, consisting of ten extraordinary voices, plays concerts in Italy itself and accompanies many artists at their performances. They were on stage with Oliver Onions for the first time on 2 February 2025 in Bologna, forming the Oliver Onions Voice Orchestra. We are looking forward to experiencing the Voice Orchestra live with us this year! They will rock the festival stage on Friday evening!
