Friday, Sept. 6
The festival is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. Already for several hours before the opening, thousands of fans had been crowding intrepidly in front of the gates.
This year the festival site is divided into two parts. In addition to the main festival hall, where bands and artists perform and film screenings take place, there is also a large outdoor area. In addition to the food and beverage booths, there is plenty of seating, an ice cream stand, the “Ride through the prairie” horseback shooting gallery, the gavel, vintage cars and various bouncy castles. The distillery has two new whiskeys and a new pistachio liqueur in store for tasting has a booth outside.
In addition to fan stores, inside is the SpencerHill Lounge, where various rarities will be screened on Friday, including television appearances, music videos, a journey through festival history and even two tribute videos to the two great voice actors Thomas Danneberg and Rainer Brandt.
The afternoon line-up includes the opening ceremony in the presence of the mayor of Ilmenau, screenings of the films The Two Missionaries and I'm with the Hippos, and the 3D-Audiokosmos premiere in the Spencerhill Lounge.
The evening concludes with a performance by the Spencer Hill Magic Band. The Hungarian guys have been playing together since 2009 and also played at the Ilmenau festival in 2013. Today, they once again gave it their all, creating an electrifying party atmosphere in the hall. Meanwhile, they also receive support from Octavian Dell'Acqua, who does not miss a chance to show off to the fans during the evening.
Saturday 7 September
On Saturday the festival opens its doors at 10 a.m. The first few hours are all about children, with a full program of games until 3 p.m. After a fan greeting by Dennis Schmidt-Foß a few minutes after 3 p.m., the program begins with a screening of the film The Soldier of Fortune.
At lunchtime, all the fans finally gather in the main hall for the presentation of costumes and tattoos. Seeing all the fans in costume next to each other is always a beautiful sight. After this fun show outside, arm wrestling and beer and sausage contests take place.
In the afternoon, the large and traditional Movie Parade starts. The large rowdy and colorful procession with vintage cars goes through the Ilmenau trades, escorted by police, under the stunned gaze of many onlookers.
This is followed on stage by the knife-throwing show, interviews with Cristiana and Octavian, and the awarding of prizes to the winners of all competitions. The Crew is then invited on stage to greet the audience.
Then we all move to the front of the main entrance of the Ilmenau Ballroom to celebrate another traction of our gathering: the Big Picture 2025! The line-up of the event then continues on the main stage with a screening of the legendary film ...or else we'll get mad followed by performances by Cruising Hippos and maestro Hannibal Giannarelli.
While inside the hall the show goes on, some fans enjoy the late summer evening in the outdoor area.
A big concert by the Dune Buggy Band is scheduled for the evening. The Italian band has been participating in the festival since 2015 and is now an integral part of the cast. Their show is great again tonight and there is an exceptional atmosphere.
It is now past midnight when the final concert concludes. But the festival is not over yet. Fans gather again in the outdoor area, where the festival ends in spectacular fashion with a fireworks display accompanied by music.
